Light is vital for life. It is also essential for the next generation of communication technologies to be created and a wave of other new technological developments which will transform our world for the better.
Two Universities. One Centre. One Course.
The two world leading universities have combined their expertise in photonics to establish an exciting new Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Photonic Systems Development, leveraging their current strong collaborations in research and innovation. The Centre trains postgraduate students, using innovative teaching and learning techniques and collaborates closely with a wide range of leading companies and research centres worldwide.
If you would like to join us as a student or register your interest in working with us as an industrial partner, we would be delighted to hear from you.
Centre Studentships Available for UK and EU Applicants
We currently have funding available for UK and EU students eligible for Engineering and Physical Sciences Council (EPSRC) awards for students to start in September 2012 on the four year programme (MRes + PhD). To apply, potential applicants must first complete the Pre-Application Screening Form.
Financial Support for Overseas Student Applicants and for 'MRes only' Applicants
Both UCL and Cambridge University offer many funding opportunities on the basis of applicant's academic achievements and potential to UK, EU and overseas students. Before applying for scholarships, read the eligibility criteria thoroughly and make sure you submit your funding application by the correct deadline (please note that some funding deadlines end before December 2012 for those planning on starting in Sept 2013). The links below are intended to help you begin your search for funding for joining the MRes Photonic Systems Development. You must apply for funding directly to the institution where you wish to be registered for your MRes:
